When it comes to resume writing many people do have some set of old school thoughts and these set of old school thoughts do hamper their chances of getting dream job or the job they are worth of. I thought of listing down all the misrepresentation and falsification with respect to resume and why candidates should come out of their school of thoughts.

Falsification 1: A resume with more number of pages stands high chance of getting in the eye of the HR Managers.

Truth: No, HR Managers are not interested in bulky resumes or lengthy resumes as they usually have to go through hundreds of resumes for every hiring process and they don’t want to spend their time trying to interpret about your capability.

Falsification 2: The person who is taking the interview will be convinced of the ability of the person if the resume has more than 4-5 pages.

Truth: No, Instead it creates a negative impact as he thinks that you are not capable of explaining your worth in less words and it also makes you to face the interview for longer duration.

Falsification 3: We should mention about the hobbies in our resume as it can break the ice between the interviewer and interviewee.

Truth: Never put any professional details or personal details of yours which may hamper your job search effort and can land you in big mess. Hobbies won’t add any great value and sometimes it may land you in big trouble if the interviewer decided to ask a question or two on the same thing.

Falsification 4: A career objective is must for every resume.

Truth: No, Mentioning career objectives don’t add any value to the resume instead it may hamper your chance of getting good calls. Candidates should mention about the objectives only if he/she wants to convey any specific industry vertical he/she is looking for and expects the person from the same verticals calls him.
